Our house developed a foundation crack, which was allowing the corner of the house to sink. I called Matvey construction and they came out right away and gave me a bid. Since Matvey is a structural engineer his bid included the engineering. I also contacted another foundation repair contractor who referred me to two structural engineers. Both those engineers proposed expensive geotechnical studies, land surveys and excessive fixes (including a piering technology that would not have been allowed by the city). Because Matvey has a long history of working on foundations in my part of the city he had access to the necessary soils data. He predicted where they would find bedrock within 6 inches. I was able to negotiate a price that fit my budget and they added my house to their schedule within a week. The crew came out and had the repair completed in two and a half days. After digging out the foundation on the corner of the house they found that fixing the problem would require additional concrete and rebar work. Matvey kept the charges for the additional work to a minimum for which I am grateful. The crew worked very hard because they had to bring all the gear and concrete up a lot of stairs. They answered my questions and showed me what they were doing. They fully restored a brick pathway that they had to dig up to make the repairs. Matvey also personally went under the house (not easy to do) to confirm the adequacy of his repair design. He also checked the basement flooring supports to insure they were still strong. Looking to use the company again on a retaining wall project.
