Matvey Construction crews have arrived in the morning to install the plywood over the openings where the windows used to be. Removing the windows and covering the opening with plywood would allow the Theater staff to use the rooms for office space or rehearsal rooms.
Emmanual Episcopal Church is a temporary location for YTNW until larger MICA (Mercer Island Center for the Arts) is built later in 2017. Since the YTNW is planning to stay at the church for at least couple of years, it was important to remodel the church to fit the particular needs of Theater staff, actors and patrons
Converting church into a theater
Now, after the window glass and aluminum frames were removed and hauled away, Matvey Construction installed plywood to cover the window opening so that the rooms inside the church could be redecorated with Theater needs in mind.
Matvey crews we called upon to help turn this church in Mercer Island into a rehearsal space for theater arts. Firstly, we had to remove the window glass windows safely as well as remove all of the aluminum framing. After that, we installed plywood where the windows once were to reduce the amount of light into the space. We then separated the debris into 2 different piles for recycling and then deposited it at the local dump!
