This home in Port Orchard, WA had 4” of settlement due to soil erosion from the roof water system. The home was constructed of ¾” ship lap and faced with full brick on top of a thickened concrete stem wall. The client wanted to stabilize the foundation without damaging the brick facade overlay which can be delicate.
With the help of an engineer, a design load of six tons per pier was used for designing footing underpinning. Our crew installed a total of 17 3” push piers to stabilize the foundation. The piers were used to level and plumb the stem wall. The installation was accomplished via a hydraulic jack. A total of 6 9”x 9” catch basins and 148" of drainage pipe was installed to keep water from saturating the foundation soils. Overall, the structure was lifted 2.5” to 4” as needed. The client was very happy with the results and has begun the remodeling process.
