Challenge

The maintenance staff of this commercial building located in Shelton, WA noticed some structural issues so they gave us a call. Our experienced inspector found that the mortar joints had separated near the top of the column within a foot of the roof line due footing rotation and settlement.

Solution

5 push piers were placed under the foundation supporting a brick wall and a corner overhang near a raised garden area. Push piers were able to lift the structure and reduce the size of the cracks between the mortar joints. Additional push piers were placed to resist settlement of the concrete/brick foundation wall also located in the area of the columns. Matvey Construction completed this project in 1 day. The county building department passed and closed out the permits of the work completed. The design was completed and installed with no change orders, on time and did not go over budget.
